What it's like

This is the Cabernet behind the 1976 Judgment of Paris, poured where it was grown. The winery is at 5766 Silverado Trail in Napa, in the Stags Leap District. Your options range from a simple seated flight to a walk through the caves, so the visit can be as short or as involved as you like.

Only Stag's Leap Wine Cellars wines are served on the property, so plan your tasting around that one producer's range.

Who it's best for

Cabernet drinkers who want to understand a specific place and a specific wine's history. The collector-minded will like the longer experiences, and anyone curious about the caves will too.

This is an adults-only visit. Guests must be 21 or older, and children and infants are not permitted. Pets are not allowed either, with the exception of certified service animals. The winery does not host weddings or similar social events.

What to book

  • Signature Wine Tasting: $95 per person. A private table in the Visitor Center and a flight of four current release wines, about 60 minutes. A good starting point.
  • Estate Experience: $125 per person. A cave journey, then a seated tasting of limited production wines, including Cask 23, with cheese and charcuterie. About 90 minutes.
  • Collector's Experience: $225 per person. A cave tour and a communal tasting of four vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon with seasonal bites.
  • Large Party Estate Experience: $155 per person, for parties of seven to fourteen. A cave walk, Cellarius Kitchen, and a small lot flight including Cask 23, about 90 minutes.
  • 50th Anniversary Judgment of Paris Commemorative Experience: $1,976 for two people plus the hotel rate. It includes an overnight stay at a Yountville resort, a private experience, a seasonal lunch, and one bottle of Judgment of Paris 50th Anniversary S.L.V. Magnum. Allow at least 3 hours.

Private catered dining is available with minimums of $12,750 for dinner and $9,750 for lunch. Dinner in the Vineyard is sold out for August 14 and 15, 2026.

Book through the winery's visit page at https://www.stagsleapwinecellars.com/estate/visit-us/. Check whether reservations are required and confirm current tasting hours on the winery's website before you go.

How it fits into a day

With a 60 to 90 minute tasting, this works well as a morning or early-afternoon anchor, with time left for lunch and one more appointment along Silverado Trail. The longer cave experiences take more of the day, so don't schedule too tightly around them.

Parking is available on-site, but the winery itself recommends carpooling or hiring a shuttle. Arrange a designated driver, a tour, or a rideshare, especially if you're tasting Cabernet at this pace.
