What it's like
Frog's Leap keeps things relaxed. The Garden Tasting is the easy, friendly way in, and it makes a good first stop of the day. The winery is at 8815 Conn Creek Rd. in Rutherford.
Who it's best for
This is a good fit for first-time visitors who want a low-pressure start, and for groups that include non-drinkers or kids. The Family Friendly Garden Tasting is offered Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am. Adults taste four wines, while children and non-drinkers sip a seasonal beverage. Children and dogs aren't permitted inside the winemaking facilities, so plan around that if you're traveling with either.
If you want something more in-depth, the tours and the seated library tasting give you more time.

How it fits into a day
Most experiences start at 10:30 am or earlier, which makes Frog's Leap a natural opener. Start here while the morning is calm, then move on to a later tasting or a long lunch in the valley.
Plan your driving before you go. Choose a designated driver, book a tour, or use a rideshare, especially if you're stacking several tastings in one day.
